New Balance - Video and Track out now!!!

Oh. My.Days.

What an amazing party. Jadares Por Fuera, Rumbaba Deluxe and a special appearance from r' kid, Standaloft aka MC Defalt all raised the roof and had Favela Chic kicking the arse off of Old Street. Anyhow, the TV-edit and the release track are available for download at http://www.quinceingles.com/. However, the full viral edit, as shown above, can ONLY be found on the QE Youtube channel! Exclusive! Anyhow - spread the word!!

Check this new tune by Rhymes and Handpicked Productions' Charles Smith and Matt 'Dex Luther' Sergeant. Its fresh, like that snow what slipped yo fat momma up...

Put this in your pipe...

Hootananny BOSH...

Hootananny, hootananny golly what a day...or night, even. Ladies and gentlemenses, for those of you that didn't come to the Hoots gig - For Shame! (/points finger). We'd all been pretty damn excited about the gig for bloody ages - I mean, it's the Hootananny! The best live music venue in the UK, as voted for by people! And they have the most beautiful barmaids in the entire world - and a pretty fine promoter as well. So yeah, we were fairly pumped up for the gig. But we've been disappointed before - we've built ourselves up and been knocked down like cheap scaffolding.

But Hoots, you didn't disappoint us.

From Pikey's intro, to the last song, the crowd was swaying like Cliff Richard's pants drying in the air of windy Wimbledon final; they were sweating like a trapped badger with a cough; they were bouncing like [insert mildly offensive simile here]. Yes, it was an awesome gig.

We were joined by the big drink of chocolate milk that is Aga, the maestro on the Saxamaphone, and on ethnic drums, the very non-ethnic Will - the very nucleus of the Queens English Live Band Experience (trademark trademark registered blah)!! Most of our japes were caught by the jaunty angled camera of Keane Eye Photography. The rest were caught by me and my unsteady camera hand - and have thus formed the basis of our new, official, Queens English Youtube Channel.

I apologise now, but as a short (yet sexy) man, my arm gets a little tired having to hold the camera above the heads of thronging crowds. And boy, did they throng - all over my chest and in my hair...

Now you're making your own jokes. Here's the start of the show! Click the channel for more jazz!!

New Launch Date!!!

Let's be honest - we all knew it was bound to happen. We've pushed the launch back, due to the inordinate amount of time is taking to cut this video down and get the track rerecorded, as well as getting the new website up. Yes, there's a new website abound.

Anyhow, we've now confirmed that the launch date for New Balance is going to be Tuesday 7 December and the fabulous Favela Chic. Check out the venue's website - it's pretty sick. We're well excited, if a little tired from the copious running about we've all been doing. By the way, check out our new Youtube Channel. 'Tis well exciting.

Friends & Family - Part 2 - Purple Turtle Beads

Easy up - a slightly impromptu blog entry, considering I haven't uploaded the Behind-the-Scenes stuff yet, but we couldn't really pass this one up! We went up to Leicester last week for the mighty Jamfest 2010 underground music festival. While we were there, we found a proper top-shelf material stand selling these wicked hama-bead neck-pieces and jewellery - Purple Turtle Beads be its name!.

QE:ES - Sun, Sand, Sea, such a pain in the arse - PART 1 - The intro

I should have been writing this blog entry last Wednesday - Friday at the latest. Given that it is now the preceeding Friday, over a week and a half after the Queens English crew was supposed to be back from Spain, might give a hint to the mindnumbing terror that we have experienced at the hands of the British institution that is Easy Jet, the Spainish Social Workers Party, a forgetful blonde, a dumbass turk and a small brown man with an ass that just won't stop (me).

Our Mates - Part 1 - Dark Sky / Boogaloo Crew

This is an aspect of the blog that I've wanted to write about for fucking ages. We've been around for a fair while, and we've got about a fair ol' bit. In the course of doing so, we've had our fair share of crackheads, gammon-handed fools and ketamine freaks. And that's just our mate Tom.

But our travels, trials and tribulations have brought us into contact with some excessively brilliant and talented people, who've influenced us no end and more importantly, provide proper joke of a Friday night down the Grand Union. The first, and most fabulous of these are the fucking fantastic Dark Sky crew, also known in an alternative incarnation as the Boogaloo Crew.

Minor Horror Countdown...

The above picture was me - when I realised we have under a month and a half until our party for New Balance. And week after next we've got the video shoot in Alicante. Yes. Indeed. Stress times. But it's funny how the more stressed I get about things, the more detached I become from the problem and indeed reality. Hence, my decision to blog - the 21st Century equivalent of fiddling while Rome burns.

Where we're going for this video...

Guadarmar del Segura - apparently this is near where our mate Tom Robinson got robbed at knife point. And it's also going to be the venue where we're gonna be shooting the vid for New Balance...or Neuvo Equilibria, as Sherlock has deftly translated. Have we filming permission, licensing, health and safety checks? Of course not. Because we're fucking Hip Hop. But thankfully, so few people actually read this blog, I don't think it's actually going to be a problem...Real Hip Hop...

Bosh - last track DONE

In a world where Asil Nadir can return to England unscathed, where Miley Cyrus hasn't been touched up wrong and where I can be struck down by a really, really awful eye infection, there is no godforsaken reason why QE can't pen a fucking awesome tune in a 5/4 time signiture. And here it fucking is. And with that, ladies and gentlemen, the QE2 Demo is DONE. Start spreading the word. Like, now....

Launch tings!

The following that your are about to read is what happens when no-one can be bothered to actually write a proper blog entry about something reasonably interesting, and instead think publishing group emails in the style of David Thorne is something that might be reasonably interesting. Shit...here's the launch stuff...

Thursday 26 August 2010

So Good, or Not So Good?! That...is a question...

Hooo boy - I've got that funny feeling in my tummy. I had it all those years ago when QE dun' blasted out the sickest set in Cargo's history, drenching the walls in sweat and lady fluids. The same look set to happen again, with the forthcoming Demo, as YET ANOTHER TUNE is completed! More lyrical excellencé, from our boys (and Girl) in black'n'blue. Listen, comment, like it, love it...Ladies and Gentlemenses, I give you, 'So Good' by Queens English [/insert fanfare]

Shwinn
p.s. If you're wondering about the picture choice...nothing to do with the song...and I don't have to justify myself to anyone...

We Business!!

Ooooh! Lookee that! Business cards for the QE, that inadvertantly make it look like I'm a legitimate member of industry. Slick'n'slide. As Rhymes pointed out, this saves faffing about for a pen and paper or phone at the end of a gig, spot or one of those club nights where you've met the producer for the Chai Whallas tent. I highly recommend it, as having a piece of card with your name on makes you feel big and important. Like the misplaced passion of Geoffery Sinclair. Plus it makes excellent quality roach material.

This is what the Q to tha E got got...

I'd apologise for not writing for ages, but like my ex-girlfriend said, it's what you've come to expect from me. However, on the plus side, I've actually got something to share with you dirty little swedes. It's a new QE track - oh yes, yes it is. It's got that fast rapping thing, where they go manananananana-mic check. Well, not quite that, but...ah sod it, just listen to the damn thing...

Finely Balanced Latino Magic...

I enjoy nicking other people's pictures. However, not as much as I enjoy 'working' with Queens English. They are a bunch of layabout fuckers, but every so often, they come out with a gem. This is one of them. We've finally got a nice clean version recorded, and a proper title for it. Ladies & Germs, this is 'New Balance'.

Your new headsway anthem - Our Love!!!

Ahhh, nothing more evocative than an Irish landscape to lull you into a false sense of security. Ladies and gentlemen, its been in the soundbank for a while, sat on by the SherlQck and Something Else, until like Grolsch it was ready - and here, finally, is the Demo Edit of 'Our Love', sampling 70's folk crew, Tir Na Nog - fuck yea, Queens English breaks boundaries...

Listen and learn bitches, the winter is bleak and the Morris Man will fuck up your polo...

Shwinn’s in Kosovo and we should be there dam it. Not all’s lost though; it did mean Queens English could rock the decks at Gottwood festival in Wales. Not quite Eastern Europe but fookin beautiful all the same!

Queens English live from HOTDOCTORS on Vimeo.

QE MANS GOES ROUNDS!!

Finally - its sodding here...Autotuned to shit, and phatter rhymes than anything you've heard this side of Battlejam and End of the Weak... Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, The Knockout - latest offering from Queens English - BAMMM!

The Knockout (rough mix) by Queens English

Live Latino!!

Yes - Pasion indeed...so, along with the roughneck rider that is Rich Cowan, we've popped out a live studio recording (well, live iPhone recording anyhow) of Latino. Yes, I know we haven't even recorded it properly yet, but sod it, cos this is a great song, and it sounds pretty good with Pikey on the beats and bleeps...

So you be the judge...Mike Judge...

QUEENS ENGLISH GONNA TURN OFF YO RADIO

What’s this, what’s this?? Queens English dun got another gig! Sponsored, nonetheless!?

Turn Off The Radio, beating in the heart of East-London, is a bi-monthly showcase of the best up-and-coming musical talent in land. It’s been trundling along since 2005 and previous performers have included Hatcham Social, Jack Penate, and now our very own Queens English.

Living in CON/DEM Nation, Mans CON/DEM Nation...etc

It's been an emotional week. Not least becuase SherlQck and I almost came to blows over the concept of British democracy, and the structure of Western Governance. Yeah, we're fucking Hip Hop. Orifice Volgatron once said QE needs, "a little less backpack, a little more swagger." Well, we've ditched the backpack, but LQcks still likes his designer Jaeger man-bag, and Something Else and myself do enjoy the Eggs Atlantic served up by the Petite Parisién on the corner of Camberwell Grove. I toyed with whether to write another comedy, but to be honest I'm in the mood for an honest roundup of the week.

Rap Exploitated Sessionism - Pikey & Rhymes Hit Ipswich

Having missed my weekly burnout capoiera training session, one passing me in the street could mistake me for a largered up, shit monkey, looking for a fight. They would not be too far wrong. However, today I am not so angry, as last night I witnessed a great many things that made me happy to be ME. And involved in the UK Hip Hop scene.

So yesterday, myself, Rhymes and Pikey Esquire, headed to the home county city of Ipswich. On entering the city limits, one might be mistaken for thinking that this is just another English Upper-middle class hick-town with nowt that much going on, except the odd lynching of Tamil immigrants and some 'oik' deigning to vote anything except Tory. And for the most part, you'd be right.

Beat this Meet

Once in a while, a club night comes along and makes you think, "Jesus shitting christ, that was fucking awesome." I remember that feeling the first time I went to Movement, the first time I went to Procession Sessions (Birmingham, for thems who don't know!), the first time I went to Troublevision. And kick me in the appendix, if I didn't feel it at Beat Redemption, Bournemouth's hot-to-mother-fuxxin-trot Dub'n'Drums'n'Bass earth smasher...

Fat Panda Scandal - A Day in the Life of SherlQck

Hip hop isn't all about being street. In fact, most of the time, it's pretending to be street when in fact you have a massive house in the Hollywood Hills, a fleet of cars that would make the CEO of Thrifty Hire blush and the ecological footprint of an Imperial Deathstar. So it is in fact a breath of fresh air, when you get guys like Looptroop, Dizraeli, Doc Syntax and others who are just the most amazingly level-headed guys in the game, pushing lyricism and the form as far as it can go, ignoring the more negative, materialist aspect of Hip Hop.

STUDIO SESSIONS - 30/4/10

So...what started off as baby steps into pop music...yes POP music... ended up with me and Sherlock writing a piss take track – ‘The Tommy Robinson Song’ complete with impressions, voice overs and general QE stupidity. Yes much more our cup of tea!

Haha it was fun and I'm sure it will get a few laughs when we play it at the roadshow....

Last night also saw the almost complete NEW TRACK!!!! finally take shape.... One on One is the working title and people better ready for this! Full of all the usual daftness, we got the lyrics written and ready to rock, the beats are banging and ready to bounce... in fact it’s finished but for the recording and it’s gonna be BIIIGGG!!!

A little soundclip’s on the way...be ready for the drop...

Check out my taster...haha...

When Two Tribes...

We won AWARD

Yes - we are literally made of WIN. Queens English dun won the Peoples Music Award t'other week. I haven't quite been able to stop going on about it. I mean, England still goes on about winning World War II and that was sodding 60 years ago, plus i know mans dat rob a vet'ran ennnnit...

No, seriously, I in no way advocate punching and robbing folks who fought for their country...
